हिमाचल प्रदेश उत्तर-पश्चिम भारत के पंजाब क्षेत्र का एक राज्य है । हिमाचल प्रदेश 21,629 वर्ग मील (56,019 किमी 2) में फैला हुआ है, और उत्तर में जम्मू और कश्मीर के भारतीय राज्यों, पश्चिम में पंजाब और दक्षिण-पश्चिम, हरियाणा और उत्तर प्रदेश, दक्षिण-पूर्व में उत्तराखंड और तिब्बत द्वारा सीमाबद्ध है ।

हिमाचल प्रदेश पक्षियों की सुंदरता के साथ के लिए प्रसिद्ध है। इसका शाब्दिक अर्थ बर्फीले पहाड़ों का क्षेत्र है । हिमाचल प्रदेश में भारत के किसी भी राज्य की प्रति व्यक्ति आय सबसे अधिक है । बारहमासी नदियों की प्रचुरता के कारण, हिमाचल अन्य राज्यों जैसे दिल्ली, पंजाब और राजस्थान को भी हाइड्रो बिजली बेचता है । राज्य की अर्थव्यवस्था तीन स्रोतों पर अत्यधिक निर्भर है: पनबिजली, पर्यटन और कृषि ।
