त्रिपुरा उत्तर-पूर्व भारत का एक राज्य है, जिसका क्षेत्रफल 4,036 वर्ग किलोमीटर है। त्रिपुरा उत्तर, दक्षिण और पश्चिम में बांग्लादेश से घिरा हुआ है। भारतीय राज्य असम और मिजोरम पूर्व में स्थित हैं। इसकी राजधानी अगरतला है और बोली जाने वाली मुख्य भाषाएँ बंगाली और कोकबोरोक (जिसे त्रिपुरी भी कहा जाता है) हैं।

यह पूर्व में एक स्वतंत्र त्रिपुरी साम्राज्य था और त्रिपुरा विलय समझौते द्वारा 15 अक्टूबर 1949 को स्वतंत्र भारत के साथ विलय कर दिया गया था। ब्रिटिश राज काल के दौरान इसे हिल टिप्पेरा (टिपरा का अंगरेजी संस्करण) के रूप में भी जाना जाता था और इसका इतिहास 2500 वर्षों और 186 राजाओं से अधिक है। (Birds name in Hindi)

त्रिपुरा पूर्वोत्तर भारत का एक पहाड़ी राज्य है जिसकी ऊंचाई समुद्र तल से 50 से 3080 फीट तक है, हालांकि अधिकांश आबादी मैदानी इलाकों में रहती है । त्रिपुरा में उष्णकटिबंधीय जलवायु है और मानसून के दौरान वर्षा होती है । यह बांग्लादेश से उत्तर, पश्चिम और दक्षिण में घिरा हुआ है और पूर्व में असम के करीमगंज जिले और मिजोरम के आइजोल जिले के माध्यम से भारत के बाकी हिस्सों तक पहुँचा जा सकता है ।
राज्य 22 डिग्री 56 ‘एन और 24 डिग्री 32’ और 90 डिग्री 09 ‘ई और 92 डिग्री 10’ ई के बीच फैला हुआ है । इसका अधिकतम खिंचाव उत्तर से दक्षिण तक 184 किमी और पूर्व से पश्चिम तक 113 किमी के क्षेत्र के साथ 10,492 किमी के बारे में मापता है2 । त्रिपुरा देश का तीसरा सबसे छोटा राज्य है । हालांकि, त्रिपुरा में मनु नदी सहित कई नदियां हैं जो यहां से निकलती हैं ।
