दोस्तों क्या आप जानते हैं कि मध्य भारत का एक राज्य छत्तीसगढ़ तब बना जब मध्य प्रदेश के सोलह छत्तीसगढ़ी भाषी दक्षिणपूर्वी जिलों को 1 नवंबर 2000 को राज्य का दर्जा मिला । रायपुर इसकी राजधानी के रूप में कार्य करता है । यह भारत का 10 वां सबसे बड़ा राज्य है जिसका क्षेत्रफल 52,199 वर्ग मील (135,194 किमी 2) है । छत्तीसगढ़ बहुत पुराने समय से इस क्षेत्र में 36 रियासतों से अपना नाम लेता है (छतीस हिंदी में छत्तीस है और गढ़ किला है), हालांकि इन 36 राज्यों की सूची हमेशा विवाद का मुद्दा बनी हुई है ।
राज्य के उत्तर और दक्षिण भाग पहाड़ी हैं, जबकि मध्य भाग उपजाऊ मैदान है । वन राज्य के लगभग चौंतीस प्रतिशत को कवर करते हैं । राज्य का उत्तरी भाग ग्रेट इंडो-गंगा मैदान के किनारे पर स्थित है: रिहंद नदी, गंगा की एक सहायक नदी, इस क्षेत्र को नालियों में डालती है । सतपुड़ा रेंज के पूर्वी छोर और छोटा नागपुर पठार के पश्चिमी किनारे पहाड़ियों के पूर्व-पश्चिम बेल्ट का निर्माण करते हैं जो महानदी नदी बेसिन को भारत-गंगा के मैदान से विभाजित करते हैं ।

राज्य का मध्य भाग महानदी और उसकी सहायक नदियों के उपजाऊ ऊपरी बेसिन में स्थित है, जिसमें चावल की व्यापक खेती होती है । ऊपरी महानदी बेसिन को ऊपरी नर्मदा बेसिन से पश्चिम में मैकाल रेंज, सतपुड़ा के हिस्से और उड़ीसा के मैदानों से पूर्व में पहाड़ियों की श्रेणियों द्वारा अलग किया जाता है । राज्य का दक्षिणी भाग गोदावरी नदी और उसकी सहायक नदी इंद्रावती नदी के जलक्षेत्र में दक्कन पठार पर स्थित है । महानदी राज्य की प्रमुख नदी है । अन्य मुख्य नदियाँ हसदो( महानदी की सहायक नदी), रिहंद, इंद्रावती, जोंक और अरपा हैं । (Birds name in Hindi)
